Saturday - visits and football

Mike - Marsha and Jonathan paid a visit today to meet Daniel. Marsha was overjoyed and teared up when we told her about our Placement Day. John was so very sweet - he held Daniel's hand and was very gentle with him. While Marsha and Holly got some together time with Daniel, Michael and John romped in the back yard. John has a heck of an arm - he threw walnuts from our backyard tree an incredible distance, he learned to throw and catch an appropriately-sized football and showed soccer scholarship-quality skill in kicking the rubber ball tremendous distances across the yard. We also had fun throwing the football and walnuts through the tire swing!

As you see in the pics - Daniel is appropriately dressed for Gameday - and even signaled Touchdown Tech! He was very happy that the Hokies prevailed. Daniel also gave Mommy a big smile! She is sure it wasn't just gas.

Daniel also got Tummy Time today on the Gymini (spelling?). He really likes the Gymini. After Mommy gave him tummy time early in the afternoon, Mommy went to take a much-needed nap, Daddy laid him on there on his back so that he could gaze at the mobile items. Daddy also built a little barricade so that Daniel could not see the television (Mommy says no TV for Daniel for the 1st year), and Daddy watched ESPN College Football Scoreboard (with no sound on) while listening to the Tech game on the radio. Oh, and, of course, talking to Daniel and playing with him constantly. :-)

After Mommy got up, we read six whole books to Daniel! He especially liked Caesar's Commentaries on the Gallic Wars and The Fellowship of the Ring. ;-)

Daniel was an absolute angel hanging out in his bouncy seat on the floor between Mommy and Daddy while Mommy and Daddy ate dinner. (Salad, sourdough bread, and Michael had sardines. (Dad - that was for you - a throwback to Grandpa)

Tonight, Mommy's going to try Daniel in the bassinet for the 1st time. Mommy has had Daniel in bed with her in his positioner with bumper guards since Daniel joined us. This has been great for Daniel, who sleeps 4-6 hours a night, but not so much for Mommy, as she wakes up whenever he squirms. We think the special Gladney bassinet will be the key.

That's a mighty fine looking sleeper he's wearing ;-) I can't believe it fits him already.

It looks like you guys are settling in beautifully. Can't wait to meet Daniel soon.

Love,

Vicki
