Many Pics of Daniel!!! and Today

Add Image

Mike - Today was absolutely beautiful. And I don't mean the weather. Right now, just a few feet from me, lies peacefully sleeping - our son :-) Here's how the day went - first Scott and Erica came over, bearing gifts, and then we all hopped into our Rent-a-Buick and drove to Red Lobster near Gladney. Kim, our counselor, met w/ us for a few minutes, and then the BM counselor joined us. Then our birthmother, her Mom, and her Aunt joined us. They are all VERY, VERY nice and sweet people. Our BM especially so. We all had a nice lunch w/ lots of easy conversation. We then trucked over to Gladney, where the two of us and Kim dealt w/ the last of the paper work. Then we went onto the placement room, and a few minutes later, our BM came in holding Daniel. He was peaceful; she had tears in her eyes - but she explained that she was tearing up because of how happy we were. She then placed Daniel in Holly's arms. Over the next 45 minutes we all talked, and took turns holding Daniel. Both Holly and I said some very poignant words that everyone in the BM's family tearfully appreciated. We cannot image a more blessed environment and occurrence than today - this loving birthmother and her family have placed their ANGEL of a son with us to raise, to love, to cherish, to guide - all of these things we will do (and they know we will do) with all of our hearts.

Then they said their goodbyes - and it was just us.

We came back to the hotel - Erica and Scott stayed w/us till about 8 pm. We ordered room service so that we could just stay around our bundle of joy. About an hour and a half ago we swaddled him and put him down and he's been sleeping pretty well. In the pics attached to this post, you will see all of us, plus Peggy, one of the transitional care givers - the very Peggy who looked after Alex C. Sharon & Don had a family emergency yesterday and gave Daniel to Peggy for the night - all of our prayers go out Sharon and Don - and, of course, our BM and her Mom and Aunt.

Oh, by the way - all the pics are in backwards order - the ones closest to the paragraph happened first - the ones on top last.

Mike :-)
