Regarding Daniel's name...

OK, contrary to popular rumor (Greg and Greg you know who you are), Daniel's name is not in any way affiliated with any National Football League players presently or formerly playing in Baltimore. If that were the case, the boy's name might well have been Bertram, which not only is former Colt QB Bert Jones' first name, but actually means "bright raven." ;-)

For those of you who do not know... My full given name is Michael Lewis F, son of Robert Lewis F, son of Harold Lewis F and nephew of Stanley Lewis J.

Now, the fact that Lewis is a significant and recurring name amongst professional football players in Baltimore in the very late 20th and early 21st centuries does not negatively affect Daniel's future sporting allegiances... ;-)

Mike :-)

Since Michael was at VA Tech today we now have cute VA Tech outfits and a VT hat for Daniel. Plus one of the women from my scrapbooking club gave us Raven's PJs! Do you see a theme here??????????

So, you're saying the (World Champion) Indianapolis Colts once played in Baltimore?

Also, I thought Mike was goofing on Bertram meaning "bright raven," but it turns out he was serious: http://www.thinkbabynames.com/meaning/1/Bertram ("bright, FAMOUS raven").

Holly must have vetoed "Bertram Lewis."

I really thought 'passing' on 'Dilfer Boller' (which is a beautiful name) was a mistake. But naming him after the Napoleonic owner of the Redskins seems like an outright betrayal...

I may call him Snyder...or 'The Snyde'....once he is old enough to appreciate how much it will annoy his father.

Seriously...Christy and I are so excited for you...excitement really does not state it well enough. To put it in terms Michael can understand...it feels like the Ravens just won the Super Bowl.

Holly says - - Of course I vetoed Bertram - could you imagine Bert F.? Takes me back to Ernie and Bert.

Originally there was also a strong desire to get Raven in the name . . . I am not going to setup my child for name calling since they will already have purple everywhere in his wardrobe.

I think the word you are looking for is nevermore......

And, obviously, the Daniel is homage to the greatest QB of all time - Daniel Marino, right Mike ?:)
