Trick-or-Treat

Daniel went to my office today for Trick-or-Treat! He loved running around all the different floors and getting candy from everyone (of course he would just stick the candy in his mouth with the wrapper still on). I also discovered that he loved my computer and printer so we might sign him up for a temp job!

Halloween Jack o' Lanterns

Michael here - tired after a long day of flying P-40s over China... oh, you thought the Flying Tiger thing was only a costume? ;-)

Saturday night, Daddy got to play the role of Pumpkin lobotomist... doing all I can to bring Halloween joy to Daniel and the neighborhood :-) (No, that wasn't sarcastic).

Seeing Daniel dressed up and scampering about in his tiger costume has been awesome! He obviously doesn't get the whole concept of what is going on this Halloween... maybe somewhat more by next October.

So, without further ado... May I present the O'Lantern family: Evil Jack, Happy Horace, and Little Daniel (Daniel's little pumpkin from the Pumpkin Patch).

Halloween Open House

We went to Jane, Greg and Alex's Halloween Open House today! Daniel had a blast playing with all the balls and running around outside. He especially liked playing with Nicholas (his Gladney buddy) who was teaching him how to roar. Christy and Greg were there with Nicholas (dragon) and the twins (4 months old and dressed up as the wonder twins).

Alex (ninth picture) was adorable in her Little Red Riding Hood costume and Jenny (fourth picture) was cute as ever. Daniel was fascinated by the two mermaids!

Air and Scare

We took Daniel to the Udvar-Hazy Air and Space Museum for "Air and Scare". We could not believe how much traffic there was to get into the Air and Space Museum. Daniel spent the time in the car practicing his ROAR which was so cute!!!!

As soon as we got in Daniel wanted to run around and he kept saying "up" as he pointed at all the planes (this made Michael very happy as he will have a companion for hours at the museum). We managed to get a few pictures in front of some key planes (the Hellcat and P40 Warhawk which is the plane flown by the Flying Tigers - Michael's costume).

The museum did a great job with all kinds of activities for the kids. Daniel got his first candy as well! We cannot wait to go back next year!

Up and Down

We have discovered that Daniel's favorite thing to say is now "Up and Down". Apparently he really likes opposites like Up and Down and Yes and No. Today when I took him to daycare he wanted to walk on his own like a big boy - so he headed right for the gym which I understand to be his favorite part of the day.

When I dropped him off it was breakfast, so Daniel sat right down at the children's table and ate his fruit. IT WAS SO CUTE! I cannot believe he is sitting at a table and eating his meals already. I might have to invest in a little table for him for our house.

Cox Farm's Pumpkin Patch

Daniel and I headed to the Pumpkin Patch with Jen, BJ and Robyn! Last year Daniel slept through most of the trip, but this year he loved running around seeing all the animals (cows, calfs, piglets, pigs, chickens, roosters, etc.). He also thought the pumpkins were fun and rolled around in the hay.

Daniel heard a tractor and made a bee-line for his first hayride. He is fascinated by large machinery like tractors, trucks, cars, etc. Robyn, BJ and Daniel all enjoyed the elaborate hayride with aliens, water hazards, animals, and a haunted barn. Jen and I were also impressed!

Daniel loved the wooden trains that you could explore. He would have stayed there all day if I let him. It was the perfect fall day for the Pumpkin Patch.

About Me

We first heard about Gladney Center for Adoption in January of 2005 when we met with Pastor Stephen and Paula. In March of 2005 we attended an orientation at Gladney in Fort Worth, Texas. We adopted Daniel on September 12, 2007! Now we are waiting for a special child to complete our family.
