D is for Daniel

I received this cute onesie from Debbie and Joe! Debbie and Joe are great friends from our adoption support group. We pray for them every night that their child is on the way to them!

Daniel loves PRUNES. They have turned out to be his favorite fruit. If you do not feed him fast enough he gets upset. He is so cute.

More Fun with Gram

Daniel got to play with Gram more today! Unfortunately, he has a cold and was not himself the whole day. But Gram managed to get some smiles anyway. We will miss her when she goes back to Florida.

Gram and I discovered that Daniel now loves upside down time. He loves hanging upside down all of a sudden.

Buggy Ride

Here is a cute picture of Daniel on a buggy ride at daycare - he is having so much fun. Plus he loved his prunes yesterday.

Da-Da

So Daniel can now say Da-Da over and over and over and over! Michael is pretty sure he does not know what it means, but he enjoys saying it plus a whole lot of other things we cannot understand. Gram has been making him smile a lot! We had to pack up his 0-3 months, 3-6 months, and 6-9 months clothes. I cannot believe how small he used to be and how big he is now!

We also organized all his toys in the basement b/c we are going to make a play room for Daniel once we babyproof the house. Daniel loves his talking and singing puppy - he is fascinate with pressing the puppy and hearing the different songs and phrases.

Gram Visits Daniel

Daniel and Gram had a great time playing together today! Gram got to feed Daniel and watch him take a bath. Daniel and Gram played with his musical puppy a lot. Gram makes great faces and Daniel thinks she is very funny. Plus she knows all the words to Patty Cake.

We even managed to get the Christmas tree taken down almost two months after Christmas. We all had fun going to Coastal Flats for dinner. Daniel sat in a high chair the whole meal like a big boy and he was so good. He liked the lights and all the people going by. We were so proud of him.

Talking Up a Storm

Daniel just started talking and babbling with words that have multiple syllables this weekend! If we could only understand what he is saying - he definitely has something to say.

Gram arrived yesterday to visit with Daniel (he had to show off in his bouncer for her)! He is going to get a lot of love this week. We also went to a birthday party for Robyn, Jen and BJ yesterday. After Daniel ate and took a nap he was ready to go and play with everyone. Plus he got to show off how he is trying to crawl and how he giggles at Mommy (especially when she hums the William Tell Overture). Robyn was adorable in pink playing with her princesses and BJ was fun as always.

There might be a light at the end of the tunnel with Daniel's sleeping. He only got up twice last night - once for me and once for Michael. And both times he went back to sleep in a short period of time. We keep hoping!!! After two weeks of little sleep, we are beat :)

Daddy and Daniel

We had a nice dinner at Cheesecake Factory - Daniel slept the whole time. Then Daddy and Daniel got some time together to play - my two boys!

Daniel Loves Fruit

So I fed Daniel bananas for the first time and he loved them! Michael is in for a real treat when he has to feed his son fruit (especially since he won't eat it and cannot stand the smell of it). As you can see, Daniel is not going to take after his Daddy with fruit (however, Michael tells me he did eat bananas as a baby).

More Shots

We took Daniel to the pediatrician for his 6 month visit today! He is 27 1/2 inches tall (85%) and weighs 18 lbs. (65%). So Daddy might not have a linebacker after all. Daniel is doing great with his development and is right on track. He did not enjoy the shots but who would?
I got a few cute pics of Daniel in his sweater from Uncle Scott and Aunt Erica before the pediatrician visit!

Crayons

Daniel did his first artwork with crayons yesterday. When Michael saw it he asked, "Did Daniel do his initials himself?" I said, I think they are just scribbles! Of course, Daniel also tried to eat the crayons after he finished his drawing.

I took Daniel to see the doctor on Monday b/c he has been getting up and crying for 2 hours in the middle of the night for a week. The doctor said he is old enough for us to reassure him, but let him cry. So that is what we have been doing for the last 3 nights and it has been very tough. Daniel likes when we come in the room and reassure him, but after doing this three times he is still crying or up on his knees moving around. I just have to turn off the monitor and let him cry until he falls asleep again. We will see how long this lasts. Everyone tells me you just have to do it now, b/c if you wait until he is older it is even worse. I am so happy every morning when he smiles at me!

I have discovered that Daniel is not thrilled with peas. He likes his green beans so that is good enough for me. Plus he is eating 3 servings of veggies a day in addition to his cereal!

About Me

We first heard about Gladney Center for Adoption in January of 2005 when we met with Pastor Stephen and Paula. In March of 2005 we attended an orientation at Gladney in Fort Worth, Texas. We adopted Daniel on September 12, 2007! Now we are waiting for a special child to complete our family.
