Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to all of our blog readers. We have so much to be thankful for this year - especially Daniel. We hope you all have a wonderful holiday with many blessings.

We drove up to Nana and Grandpa's house for Thanksgiving. Our gameplan was to drive up in the morning so that Daniel could take his full nap before everyone arrived for dinner. Unfortunately, Daniel fell asleep in the car and then did not want to take a nap all afternoon. He had fun running around outside, but got very tired when we were ready to eat. He loved ALL the delicious food and then finally collapsed from exhaustion. Nana and Grandpa made a wonderful meal for all of us including Valerie, Eric, Emily, Rick and Sam. AND Daniel said car for the first time when Nana gave him a toy car.

Visit with Santa

Well, we decided to head to the mall for our annual picture with Santa. I had a plan that the line would not be busy during the week and I was correct. We went through the Polar Express display and Daniel flirted with the girl behind us in line! Then I put him on Santa's lap and he had no idea what was going on - no crying at all. He really just wanted to get off Santa's lap after several pictures so that he could run around! (I do have to say that Santa was much better last year - where is his smile?) Daniel looks like such a toddler now!
Daniel had his 15 month checkup today and he is now 31 inches tall (40-50%) and weighs 23 lbs. (35%). He is doing great on all the developmental milestones other than I am supposed to let him now use a spoon and fork which should be interesting. He was very brave for his shots and only cried a little bit. That is why I decided to risk going to the mall to see Santa.

Mr. Blue Eyes

Daniel had a blast running around outside

15 Months Old

Somehow my Sweat Pea is already 15 months old! I managed to get a few pics of Michael in his Raven's jersey and Daniel in his outer space PJs. Plus Daniel ate at the kitchen table with Mommy and Daddy for the first time today. He had bananas and pancakes - his favorite weekend breakfast made by Michael.

Daniel is such a joy and so much fun at this age. He is running and walking all over the place and hates to be confined. At daycare they are constantly catching him trying to go out the door to the playground. Last weekend Daniel patted his stroller and then banged on the front door to indicate to Nana and Grandpa that he wanted to go outside! Daniel is also talking all the time - I taught him how to say apple and belly button recently. Plus he is learning all kinds of words like pumpkin, black, light, ball, etc. He is always telling us things and sometimes we do not understand - which can easily lead to a temper tantrum if Daniel does not get his way :) Yes, he knows what he wants just like Mommy and Daddy.

The thing I love the most is that Daniel still loves to snuggle with Mommy - I can give him kisses all day. I know that this will not last forever so I keep trying to savor these special moments, especially when I am rocking him before bedtime.

First Time Away

We went away for the first time overnight with Daniel! Marcy and Clay were married at a beautiful Bed and Breakfast in Roanoke. It was a lovely weekend to travel and see the fall colors. Marcy looked radiant and we really enjoyed the ceremony and reception with Miller and Vicki.

Plus Nana and Grandpa came to our house to watch Daniel. They had a wonderful time and Daniel got to go to the park several times and had Grandpa's famous scrambled eggs! Daniel loves his Nana and Grandpa so much . . .

We took the pictures of Daniel on Friday after Daniel and Michael returned from the park. Daniel apparently did a face plant off the slide and had dirt all over and leaves in his hair. Michael cleaned him up, but there was still dirt on his face when I got home for dinner :)

About Me

We first heard about Gladney Center for Adoption in January of 2005 when we met with Pastor Stephen and Paula. In March of 2005 we attended an orientation at Gladney in Fort Worth, Texas. We adopted Daniel on September 12, 2007! Now we are waiting for a special child to complete our family.
