Gravelly Point - National Airport

This afternoon we headed to Gravelly Point at National Airport b/c both Michael and Daniel LOVE AIRPLANES. Michael took me here before when we were engaged to watch the planes taking off at a park right next to the runway.

Today the planes were landing when we arrived and Daniel was fascinated watching the planes come in right over his head and land. He could also see the planes when there were just a speck on the horizon and would say "airplane". He knew another one was on the way. The park was packed b/c it was such a gorgeous day. Daniel wanted to run everywhere which was a little dangerous with the bikers on the bike path. He also was determined to jump into the Potomac b/c he loves water. This made for a great workout for Mommy and Daddy. It is amazing to me that Daniel loves planes as much as his Daddy. They are two peas in a pod.

I was just thrilled to be back in town after my business trip and enjoy Little Gym with Daniel as well as Gravelly Point with my "two boys".

First Bike and First Pizza

Daniel got his first bike today - Radio Flyer!!!! He loves it even if he is still trying to figure out the concept of peddles. As you can see he wants to ride it all the time - whether he is dressed or not. Whether he has a binky in or not . . .

We had Ledo pizza for dinner tonight and decided to let Daniel have a try. So you need to understand that Daniel does not like his food cut up at all b/c he is a big boy and can eat whatever we are eating. So we gave him his first small piece of Ledo pizza and he ate it upside down (with crust on top). He was enjoying eating the pizza until the cheese got separated from the crust - he also does not like his food to come apart. So after that disaster with some cheese ending up on floor, we gave him another small piece. At this point there is tomato sauce everyone on Daniel's face and shirt. He did manage to eat much more of the second piece and we convinced him it was OK when the cheese got separated from the crust. So he actually ate the cheese separately and licked the tomato sauce off the crust while eating it! Every minute was priceless.

Happy Easter - Part II

We feel very blessed that all three of us were able to attend Easter Service together!

Daniel got to do his first outdoor egg hunt at church! He found plastic eggs with bible verses and candy and he did a great job dropping them in his basket (unfortunately for Daniel there was a limit of 5 eggs so he through his extras into the playground for the other kids).

Our church had it's 50th anniversary celebration today as well so Michael got to catch up with everyone at church. He has received so many prayers from our church family and everyone was thrilled to see him! As Pastor Becca said, "I cannot think of another family who needs Easter more at exactly this time."

Barbara joined us for the Easter Service which was very special. I know that the Lord continues to bless our family and we are so grateful for the love of Jesus and God.

Happy Easter - Part I

Daniel had a spectacular Easter morning. We did an egg hunt inside the house and Daniel found plastic eggs filled with goldfish and marshmellow chicks and bunnies (which he now loves like Mommy). Then he got his basket filled with goodies like cars in eggs, bunnies in eggs (like the monkeys in a barrel), ducks that light up, basketballs and a miniature airplane. He also got a cow that sings Old MacDonald had a farm since the cow seems to be his favorite right now.

But Michael got the the best gift ever which is an airplane that lights up and takes off and moves around like it is really at an airport with landing gear and working engines. This thing is amazing and Daniel LOVED it. He could not get enough of it (unfortunately for Mommy and Daddy is makes the loudest and most annoying noises the entire time it is on - we of course did not think about this ahead of time). Anything to make Daniel happy.

More seriously, we feel extremely blessed to have our family together this Easter and to have Michael well enough to go to church on this very special day. We are truly blessed. Thank God for his grace and support.

Visit with Christopher

Barbara, Paul and Christopher came to visit us and brought us a delicious brunch! Daniel even sat at the table with all of us like a big boy. Then during the meal Daniel starting pointing to the middle of the table where Barbara was sitting. Barbara was putting JELLY on her muffin!! And Daniel needed to get his hands on that JELLY as soon as possible. After all, he does eat JELLY sandwiches and considers JELLY to be it's own food group. So as you can see, Daniel had about 1/4 of a jar of jelly on his muffin.

We went downstairs and Christopher and Daniel had fun playing in the tunnels and tents! Christopher is so great with Daniel and Daniel loves older boys.

About Me

We first heard about Gladney Center for Adoption in January of 2005 when we met with Pastor Stephen and Paula. In March of 2005 we attended an orientation at Gladney in Fort Worth, Texas. We adopted Daniel on September 12, 2007! Now we are waiting for a special child to complete our family.
