2 Years Ago Today

Two years ago today, we found out that Daniel was going to join our family! I will never forget how happy I was when I received the news. And I could not find Michael for several hours b/c he was at a secure facility with no phone access :)

In many ways the 2 years have just flown by and now we have a very independent toddler on his way to being a boy! We just love him more and more every single day.

God bless our birthmother who is an angel we pray for every night. She is a true hero.

More Birthday Presents

Well, we finally got around to having Daniel open his presents from Mommy and Daddy this morning. He had a blast getting more toys of course.

Daniel playing with his airplane! What more could you ask for?

Gears toy was a huge hit with Daniel - especially since there are different speeds! I bought this for Daniel b/c we gave it to cousin Will as a gift and Daniel loved it.

Daniel received many airplanes from Daddy for his birthday.

Daddy got Daniel a Hot Wheels track that launches an airplane as the car goes around the loop. Daniel was fascinated and so happy!

A big firetruck from Mommy! It even has a ladder that moves. Plus Daniel loved opening the gifts in cowboy wrapping paper.

Did Daddy buy the hot wheels cars for Daniel or for himself?? Michael played with them for at least an hour this morning :)

2 Year Check-up

Daniel had his two year check-up today with Dr. Alex. He is 34" tall (50%) and 25.5 lbs (10-25%). My favorite comment on the development sheet is "Has a vivid imagination and an assertive, independent streak".

Happy Birthday Daniel!!!!

Daniel, Gram, Pop-pop, Daddy and Mommy had a great birthday morning with Daniel. We opened the first present which was Airplane GeoTrax and Daniel was mesmerized. I put some of the tracks upside down, but quickly figured that out. Daniel can control the airplane moving around the track and doing an upside down loop. He absolutely LOVES it. We might be playing with this all day. What a great gift from his classmate, Franchessca.

Daniel's Second Birthday Party

We had Daniel's Second Birthday Party at the Little Gym! He invited 20 of his best friends and the kids got to run around and do gymnastics for 45 minutes. Daniel was so cute when everyone clapped for him and sang Twinkle Twinkle Little Star under the parachute. It was wonderful to see everyone having such a fun time.

Daniel enjoying his chocolate airplane cake - he loves icing.

Mommy and Daniel making a wish as everyone sang Happy Birthday to Daniel. As you can see we had an airplane theme b/c Daniel's favorite things in the whole world are airplanes.

Mommy wore Daniel's party had for him!

Daniel eating his pizza and Mommy's pizza = a hungry boy after all that running around in the gym.

Nana and Daniel checking out the very special airplane cake!

The air track was a very big hit with all the kids. There was lots of jumping and a few collisions. 20 toddlers create quite a bit of chaos.

Bubbles are always a blast at Little Gym. Daniel tries to pop all the bubbles he can find and sometimes even eats them. A few managed to land on his head.

Cousin Hayden (or baby Hayden as Daniel calls him) and Aunt Valerie having fun at he party.

Daniel on a roll (literally)

The kids took a ride on the parachute while the parents moved them around the gym.

Daniel figures out that this Little Gym party was for him b/c he had a very special seat/throne.

Daniel and cousin Will hanging on the bars and showing that they are big boys now.

Nicholas is Daniel's buddy from school

Alex is quite good at the rings (not so sure about Greg though???)

Cousin Jason looks like he is ready to rumble!

Robyn is cute as ever on the balance beam.

Will is so strong

Brandon and Tyler showing their Dad how it is done

Michael helping Daniel on the balance beam

We had such wonderful cakes from Amphora Bakery! Daniel had three pieces of cake b/c he loves icing.

WOW is all I can say to describe this amazing 3D airplane cake. We used American Airlines for the cake model b/c that is what we flew on when we brought Daniel home from Texas 2 years ago. Plus the cake has the logo DLF0002 for Daniel's initials and 2nd birthday! Daniel kept saying airplane when he saw the cake.

Overall the party was a big success and all the kids had tons of fun. Daniel was so happy to be jumping around at the little gym with his friends. I was pretty proud of myself for managing to pull off this party on crutches with a broken ankle! Thanks to all our friends and family for making Daniel's Second Birthday so special.

Earlier in the day Daniel got this kitchen for his birthday from Mommy and Daddy. He really liked the talking kitchen and all his play food (which he tried to eat of course). Pop-pop helped him make some scrambled eggs and bake a cake.
