Daniel's One Year Pediatrician Visit

Daniel had his one year pediatrician visit today. I picked him up from daycare where he was happy playing outside and crawling around with his friends and took him to the doctor :( Plus he has a cold so he is not happy anyway. Needless to say there was lots of crying, especially when he received 4 shots.

Daniel is now 29 1/4 inches tall and 21 lbs. 10 ounces (both in the 25-50%). So it appears that the last height reading at 9 months was incorrect or else our son is shrinking (the doctor assured me that he is not shrinking and checked the height measurement himself this time). He asked whether or not Daniel is walking yet and I said that he walks on his tip toes with support - apparently this is a very NORMAL part of process in learning how to walk.

I really enjoy reading some of the developmental milestones that you are supposed to observe in a 12-15 month old. Here are my favorites: #1) Expect messiness. Throwing food is very common at this stage of development (Daniel could win an award here). #2) Does your child help do things around the house like helping to clean up? - - Are they crazy? Daniel's favorite activity is getting every single one of his toys out in the family room so he can play with them all at the same time. He hates putting the balls back at Little Gym (they even have a song that goes "It's time to put the balls away" and that never works). #3) Loves an audience and applause; imitates behaviors - - yes, Daniel is a ham and flirts with all the ladies! #4) Teach your child to be cautious when approaching dogs - - well we blew this one b/c we say, "Daniel look at the doggy" and Daniel loves them (Robyn and BJ's dogs lick Daniel all over when we visit). My personal favorite is an idea they recommend for Stimulation = Describe things to your child in lots of detail (of course they have no idea that Michael is the king of detail and Daniel is in for sports, Stars Wars and other useless trivia for the rest of his life!)

The great news is that Daniel is perfectly healthy and normal. We get to switch from formula to whole milk!!! Of course, I have to send Michael out to get whole milk tonight.

I now see that I have a total Fatty McFatterson! Max is the same weight as Daniel!!! And he's just 7 months old. Hurrah on getting to switch to whole milk. That has to be a great cost savings for you guys!
